President’s Welcome

If We Won’t Who Will?

Greetings Brothers, Sorors of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., family, friends and all visitors,

On behalf of the brothers of Kappa Beta Sigma, it is an honor and my pleasure to welcome you to our website. For those who are new to the Brooklyn Sigmas, we have served the community since June 1928. In that time, we have implemented many programs to assist our neighbors and to help improve the quality of life for all we may contact. Our current programs include a monthly reading program at the library, a prom/graduation suit giveaway, “Each One Feed One” Thanksgiving Day feeding, Christmas toy giveaway, adopt-a-highway program and the Sigma Beta Club, our youth mentoring program. This, of course, is not the limit of our activities. Our signature event is our annual Brooklyn Sigmas Scholarship Gala to benefit the Hutson L. Lovell scholarship. Each year, we award a scholarship to a deserving male high school senior.

I would love to list all the amazing things we do as a chapter. However, I would rather take this opportunity to invite you to help us make a change in our community. Today, it seems we have gotten too egocentric and self-centered and do not understand the value of helping others. There is no greater feeling than helping others. This, I firmly believe. If you are able to change an individual, you can change a culture. You must, however, be willing to help change the views of an individual. You must be willing to sacrifice your time and energy to benefit another. This sacrifice will bear fruit, the fruits of change for future posterity.  Well, we, the Brooklyn Sigmas, are about sacrifice and about change. We are working to make better brothers, a better community and, subsequently, a better world.
